COVID-19 Update – Labour Day 2021

Posted

Everyone, Summer’s end is always bittersweet. Labour Day isn’t really end of summer. Astronomically speaking, that would be the fall equinox that occurs this year on September 22 here in the northern hemisphere. But it has always felt that way to me. Here in Ontario, the weather is still pleasant enough. But our sun is […]

I sometimes hold it half a sinTo put in words the grief I feel; For words, like Nature, half revealAnd half conceal the Soul within. But, for the unquiet heart and brain,A use in measured language lies; The sad mechanic exercise,Like dull narcotics, numbing pain.  In words, like weeds, I’ll wrap me o’er,Like coarsest clothes against the […]

Everyone, Over this past weekend, we suffered our darkest hour of the pandemic as a company and a community. A gentleman who worked for us in our Western Industrial group died Saturday in a northern Alberta hospital from COVID-19 complications. He had spent nearly one month in the intensive care unit after becoming ill during […]

Big plans and complex personal ambitions […]

Everyone, I recently came across a newspaper recap of the pandemic crisis entitled “COVID-19 Year One”. I didn’t read the article. I never made it past the title. The “COVID-19” part was hardly surprising. I have probably thought, said, written or typed that name a million times during 2020, frequently with a colourful adjective out […]

Everyone, It is safe to say that COVID-19 is currently laying a beating on us. A bad one.  Case counts are exploding in many of our communities in Canada and the United States. It is a grim demonstration of the exponential growth in infections that so many experts warned was inevitable without greater intervention and […]

Lest We Forget

Posted

Everyone, So much of our conversation during this pandemic has focused on sacrifice. The ongoing actions, large and small, that we are collectively and personally required to do to stop the spread of this coronavirus and to keep ourselves and our community safe. Today we solemnly remember, reflect upon, and honour the biggest of sacrifices. […]

Everyone, Halloween was effectively cancelled here in Toronto this past weekend. The trick-or-treating was deemed imprudent given the recent resurgence of COVID-19 cases. There were still pumpkins and decorations and some kids prowling round in costumes during the daytime but the excitement was noticeably absent when the sun set. It all made sense, of course. […]
